Winslow Homer, The Herring Net, 1885

Dear Subscriber:

Scottie Scheffler earned $11,608 for each stroke he made in his 2024 competitive season — for 340-yard drives, one-inch tap ins, and a 47-yard shank.

In addition to seven tour victories and the Olympic Gold Medal, Mr. Scheffler also finished five times in the top five, and never missed a cut in the 19 tour events in which he competed.

  • $29,228,270 Regular Tour 16 events plus 2 playoff events;

  • $8,000,000 Comcast Business Tour Top 10 leader;

  • $25,000,000 Tour Championship winner;

  • $37,500 Olympic Gold Medalist;

  • $62,265,770 total winnings for 20 tournaments entered, 8 won, and 5,364 strokes taken.

Under the PGA Tour’s new Player Impact Program — which rewards those players who drive the most viewer attention to the tour’s television broadcast audience — Mr. Scheffler stands to win an additional $10 million; and his endorsement income is estimated at $20 million for the year. If all that comes to pass, his total 2024 competitive income would be approximately $92.2 million. That would bring his per stroke earnings to $17,151.

But we get ahead of ourselves.

Mr. Scheffler’s dominance was in full array throughout the past nine months since winning at Bay Hill and the Players (both in March), his second Masters Tournament and Harbor Town (both in April), the Memorial and the TPC River Highlands (both in June), and the Olympic Gold Medal in Paris in August. Time and again we watched him contend or lead, sometimes stumble for a moment, and then steadfastly overwhelm his stumble or the rise of another competitor. Driven but never arrogant. A working, talented champion.
